SMBC Aviation Capital completes take-over of Goshawk Management Ltd.
The transaction was originally announced in May 2022, with SMBC Aviation Capital reaching an agreement to acquire Goshawk for an enterprise value of $6.7bn.

The combined business of Goshawk has a portfolio of over 700 owned and managed jets and additional orders from Boeing and Airbus for over 240 new technology narrowbody aircraft.

SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, has announced the successful completion of the acquisition of Goshawk Management Ltd and associated corporate assets (together “Goshawk”), the Dublin-based global aircraft lessor. The acquisition has created the second-largest global player by the number of aircraft and the largest Japanese-owned aircraft lessor.

The enlarged business will benefit from a portfolio focused on new technology narrowbody aircraft and an industry-leading funding advantage uniquely positioned to capitalize on opportunities presented by the strong recovery in the sector. The combined business of Goshawk has a portfolio of over 700 owned and managed aircraft and additional orders from Boeing and Airbus composed exclusively of over 240 new technology narrowbody aircraft.

The enlarged SMBC Aviation Capital features a single corporate holding structure incorporated in the Republic of Ireland, with headquarters in Dublin.
