Sentry Aerospares, a portfolio company of Acorn Capital Management, has acquired AirStart Inc., a Canadian-based independent stocking distributor of rotable aircraft components, in a move that expands its inventory, strengthens its regional aircraft capabilities and enhances support for customers worldwide.
AirStart is recognised for its expertise in regional aircraft platforms and its strong presence in the Canadian aviation market. Founded by Robert Wills, the company has built long-standing relationships with airlines, MRO providers, and aviation parts distributors through its focus on supplying high-quality, ready-to-ship components for aircraft-on-ground (AOG) situations.
Robert Wills will continue to lead the business alongside Anne Vinet following the acquisition.
The integration of AirStart adds a new logistics hub adjacent to Toronto Pearson International Airport, complementing Sentry’s existing facilities in London, the New York metropolitan area and Dallas. The expanded network is expected to further enhance the company’s 24/7 AOG support capabilities for airlines and aviation operators around the world.
Sentry said the acquisition strengthens its position in the aviation aftermarket by broadening its inventory portfolio, expanding customer relationships and increasing its presence in the regional aircraft segment. The combined business is also expected to benefit from commercial synergies through cross-selling opportunities, improved inventory availability and enhanced customer support.

Adam Nemenyi and Tony DiSimone, Co-Executive Chairmen of Sentry Aerospares, said AirStart’s strong reputation and expertise make it a natural strategic fit.
“Rob and Anne have built an outstanding business with a well-earned reputation for customer service, market expertise and operational excellence. Together, we will be able to offer customers a broader inventory portfolio, enhanced service capabilities and greater access to hard-to-find aircraft components,” they said.
Boris Wolstenholme, CEO of Sentry Aerospares, said the acquisition aligns closely with the company’s long-term growth strategy.
“AirStart’s customer relationships, inventory profile and regional aircraft expertise complement Sentry’s global platform and commitment to unmatched 24/7 AOG support. We see significant opportunities to create value for customers while accelerating growth across the combined business,” he said.
Acorn Capital Management, Sentry’s parent company, said the transaction further strengthens the company’s leadership position in the aviation aftermarket and supports its strategy of expanding through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Commenting on the acquisition, AirStart Founder Robert Wills said the partnership represents an important milestone for the company.
“Joining forces with Sentry marks an exciting new chapter for AirStart. By combining our strengths, we will be able to deliver greater inventory availability, expanded market reach and enhanced support across the aviation aftermarket,” Wills said.
