Safran ACE AI enhances Defense Systems with Advanced Targeting, Tracking, and Ethical AI Integration.

Safran Electronics & Defense is launching its Advanced Cognitive Engine (ACE) artificial intelligence system. ACE aims to integrate AI capabilities into all Safran Electronics & Defense products, enhancing situational awareness, decision support, and reducing cognitive load for field forces. It will enhance target detection, classification, and identification by mitigating environmental effects like atmospheric turbulence and low light. Additionally, advanced tracking and automatic target detection functionalities will assist users in missions by minimizing cognitive burden. Each capability is adaptable to specific environments, such as flat open landscapes, deserts, and jungles, for optimal performance.

The combined capabilities, referred to as “ACE on board,” will be integrated into all equipment, including land vehicle, aircraft, naval sights, and portable optronics products. Additionally, ACE will be incorporated into Safran Electronics & Defense’s drones and robotic systems, enhancing operators’ ability to manage and operate their fleets more efficiently.

Alexandre Ziegler, EVP Defense Division, Safran Electronics & Defense, said “It’s important but also quite natural for us to be talking about AI at this year’s event, by capitalizing on our expertise in this field, coupled with our high-tech imaging systems, we’re offering significant advances in performance for our customers.”

ACE addresses the ethical challenges associated with AI by ensuring that all its capabilities maintain the user at the core of the decision-making and action process.
