Sabena Technics secures a 12-year contract with Airbus Defense and Space for maintenance services of the French Air Force’s fleet of MRTT Phénix aircraft.
Sabena Technics Group has been contracted by Airbus Defense & Space to serve as a subcontractor at Istres Air Base, near the French Air Force. The contract spans 12 years and encompasses a wide range of services. The strategic advantage lies in the proximity to operational personnel, ensuring optimal fleet availability for the Direction de la Maintenance Aéronautique and the French Air Force.
Following a short tenure at its Nîmes facility, Sabena Technics will relocate to the Mercure hangar at the Jean Sarrail Aeronautical Center in Istres. This move positions them in closer proximity to operational personnel to conduct the following maintenance activities:
- Scheduled maintenance visits at intervals of 6 and 12 years, alongside ad-hoc lower-level visits upon request.
- Prompt management of unscheduled maintenance tasks and modification work upon request Maintenance of medical emergency kits.
- The strategic relocation enhances operational efficiency and responsiveness in servicing these critical tasks for aviation maintenance.
Sabena Technics will additionally provide support to the MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transport) fleet stationed at the Aeronautical Technical Support Squadron (Escadron de Soutien Technique Aéronautique MRTT) located at Istres Air Force Base 125.
- Tire exchange and battery charging services.
- Dedicated support for Air Force and Space Force mechanics in the installation and maintenance of MRTTs (Multi Role Tanker Transport aircraft).
