20 July 2020: RUAG MRO International has enhanced its aircraft painting facility in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich with the new state-of-art painting and drying shop. One of the most important advantages of this is that the painting and drying shops are adjacent to each other which reduces time and also minimises environmental pollution. As one component is drying is one both, another component can be painted in the adjacent booth. This facility underwent a two-week test phase in June after which it is completely operational. The shop offers huge space for painting larger aircraft components like elevators, rudders, flaps and even cabin components.

Feeling extremely proud of the new painting shop Stefan Schulz, Team Leader Paint Shop said, “The new facility allows us to carry out even the most demanding of paint jobs to the highest quality. In addition to the high technical standard, the closed arrangement of the two booths is particularly advantageous since it enables a direct transition from the painting to the drying process. This eliminates the risk of contamination and helps save time.”

Besides saving time in transition from painting to drying process, the shop is other advanced means like energy consumption, occupational safety and exceeds expectations of the customers.

This painting shop will help RUAG to finish demanding painting jobs in lesser time with superior quality workmanship leading to faster aircraft availability as per demand.
