Pratt & Whitney has announced the establishment of its new India Digital Capability Center in Bengaluru to play a crucial role in accelerating innovation, fostering digital transformation, and driving business excellence on a global scale.

Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of Raytheon Technologies (RTX), has announced the establishment of its new India Digital Capability Center (IDCC) in Bengaluru, India. This center will play a crucial role in accelerating innovation, fostering digital transformation, and driving business excellence for Pratt & Whitney on a global scale. The India Digital Capability Center will be situated alongside Pratt & Whitney’s existing engineering and supply chain operations centers of excellence in Bengaluru. This co-location strategy aims to facilitate close collaboration with other RTX businesses and functions in India, including Collins Aerospace and RTX Enterprise Services.

The center is expected to employ over 300 professionals by 2027, with recruiting for the initial workforce already underway. It will focus on delivering various digital technology capabilities across key areas of Pratt & Whitney’s digital transformation agenda. The company has already invested $40 million in engineering and supply chain operations centers over the past two years, and this new multi-million-dollar investment demonstrates its commitment to expanding its footprint in India.

“The expansion of Pratt & Whitney’s digital technology presence in Bengaluru will allow us to leverage India’s aviation and technology talent and accelerate our digital transformation,” said Rahul Dharni, vice president and global chief information officer, Pratt & Whitney. 

Pratt & Whitney has a strong presence in India, with previous investments that include a state-of-the-art India Customer Training Center in Hyderabad and a research and development collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru. Over the past two decades, Pratt & Whitney has sourced more than $500 million in engineering services in India, including nearly $55 million in the past 10 years from leading aerospace suppliers.

Raytheon Technologies (RTX), the parent company of Pratt & Whitney, has a substantial footprint in India, with an Indian workforce exceeding 5,000 employees. This positions RTX as one of the largest aerospace and defense firms in the country.
