Rolls-Royce welcomes the decision by Iran Air for the supply of 100 aircrafts. The agreement includes 16 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft which are powered exclusively by the Trent XWB engine. The Trent XWB is the fastest-selling wide-body engine with more than 1,500 engines sold to 41 customers. The A350-1000 is powered by the higher thrust version of the engine, the Trent XWB-97, according to the statement by the company.
Also included in the agreement are 38 aircraft from the Airbus A330 family. The Trent 7000, the exclusive power plant for the Airbus A330neo, is the seventh member of the Trent family which has become the engine of choice in the wide body market over the last 20 years. It is scheduled to enter service in 2017, said the source.
At present an aircraft powered by an engine from the Rolls-Royce Trent family takes off or lands somewhere in the world every 16 seconds. Rolls-Royce is doubling its production of engines for large passenger aircraft to over 600 a year and over the coming years our share of the global market for large passenger aircraft will hike to more than 50 per cent for the first time.
