Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance (RRPF) has agreed to establish a new aircraft engine leasing company in China’s Tianjin Dongjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone, with an investment commitment of more than RMB2.3 billion.
The agreement was signed with authorities in Tianjin’s Dongjiang area on September 3 during the 2026 China Aviation Finance International Forum.
The new company will own aircraft engine assets in China and provide a locally based platform for RRPF’s core operations in the country. Its activities will include engine leasing, asset management and lifecycle services.

According to the announcement, the deal represents the first time a major international aviation lessor has established ownership of leasing assets in China specifically to support local operations.
UK-based RRPF is a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and US railcar and aircraft leasing company GATX. The company currently manages a global portfolio of more than 1,000 engines under lease or management, serving more than 50 airline customers.
The Tianjin investment is expected to strengthen RRPF’s local presence and provide an asset-owning platform as the company expands its activities in China’s growing aviation leasing market.
