Red Sea Airlines adds two 737 MAX 8s

Red Sea Airlines will add two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft under a lease agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital, as the Egyptian carrier works towards a 14-aircraft fleet by 2028.

The two aircraft are scheduled for delivery in July and August 2027, adding to the airline’s planned fleet expansion.

Red Sea Airlines is also due to receive a Boeing 737-800 from Aergo Capital by the end of 2026. The airline is negotiating with international lessors for seven more aircraft as part of its fleet growth plans.

The additional aircraft will support operations from Egyptian airports including Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Sphinx International Airport.

The fleet expansion will also require additional investment in aircraft maintenance, technical training, technology and operational capabilities as Red Sea Airlines prepares to operate a larger fleet.

The airline is targeting a 14-aircraft fleet by 2028, with the planned additions expected to increase its maintenance and technical support requirements alongside fleet growth.
