Ramco Systems, Safran Helicopter Engines sign MoU to streamline engine data integration

Ramco Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Safran Helicopter Engines to enable seamless integration of engine data with Ramco Aviation Software, with the aim of reducing manual data entry and improving maintenance data management for helicopter operators.

Under the agreement, the two companies will work towards enabling engine information generated after shop visits to flow directly from Safran Helicopter Engines into the Maintenance Information System (MIS) within Ramco Aviation Software.

The integration is expected to allow operators to automatically capture key engine information, including engine configuration, utilisation metrics, operating hours and maintenance events. This could help improve data accuracy and consistency while reducing the administrative effort involved in manually updating maintenance systems.

The collaboration will also support Safran Helicopter Engines in awarding Ramco the EngineLife Connect label, which identifies connectivity solutions compatible with Safran Helicopter Engines’ products and services.

As part of the MoU, the companies will evaluate data exchange formats and establish joint operational processes to support reliable and continuous data exchange between Safran Helicopter Engines and Ramco’s aviation software platform.

For helicopter operators, the integration is expected to simplify the process of initialising and updating engine data within the MIS, while providing more structured information to support maintenance planning, airworthiness management and operational decision-making.

Sam Jacob, Executive Vice President and SBU Head – Aviation, Aerospace and Defense, Ramco Systems, said the partnership would help connect OEM and operator data through a common digital platform.

“With several of the world’s largest helicopter operators on our platform, Ramco sits at a unique intersection of the aviation MRO ecosystem connecting OEMs and operators through a single digital backbone,” Jacob said.

He added that the collaboration would allow Safran to access richer engine maintenance data while enabling operators to receive OEM information directly within their maintenance systems, reducing manual processes and improving productivity.

Ramco Aviation Software is used by more than 24,000 users to manage over 4,000 aircraft globally, according to the company. The platform serves airlines, third-party MRO providers, helicopter operators, defence organisations and emerging urban air mobility companies.

For Safran Helicopter Engines, the partnership represents another step towards expanding digital connectivity around engine data and services. The company has produced more than 75,000 helicopter engines since its establishment and supports more than 2,500 customers across 155 countries.

The MoU reflects the growing focus across the aviation MRO sector on integrating OEM data directly into maintenance systems, reducing manual intervention and creating more connected digital workflows for operators.
