QOCO Systems expands Rolls-Royce data service across modern Trent fleet

QOCO Systems and Rolls-Royce have expanded their partnership to extend QOCO’s intelligent data service across the modern Trent engine fleet.

Delivered through QOCO’s Aviadex platform, the service provides Rolls-Royce with real-time operational data from airline operators. The data supports engine reliability, troubleshooting and maintenance activities, with the aim of improving engine availability and reducing maintenance-related downtime.

The expanded scope brings tens of additional operators onto the platform and is intended to cover the full operational modern Trent fleet. The service will also be extended to legacy Rolls-Royce engine types.

More than 40 operators are currently live on the platform, with additional operators in the pipeline. QOCO said the service already supports the majority of the operational modern Trent fleet when measured by both participating operators

The service consolidates operational data from multiple sources across airline networks and provides it to Rolls-Royce systems in a standardised format.

Accurate and timely engine data is important for maintenance planning, reliability monitoring and troubleshooting. By automating the collection and exchange of operator data, the platform reduces the integration work required between airlines and Rolls-Royce while improving access to operational information.

Rolls-Royce uses the data alongside its analytics and optimisation capabilities to support engine reliability and maintenance processes. The application also supports troubleshooting and engine overhaul activities, including efforts to improve overhaul turnaround times.

The expanded coverage is particularly relevant to the large installed base of Trent engines operating on long-haul aircraft.

The Trent family powers Airbus A350 and A330neo aircraft, as well as a significant proportion of Boeing 787 aircraft. Expanding data coverage across these engines provides Rolls-Royce with access to operational information from a wider section of the fleet.

QOCO has worked with Rolls-Royce since 2018, initially supporting the company’s Blue Data Thread digitalisation programme and its Intelligent Engine initiative.

The partnership focuses on automating and standardising the exchange of data between airline operators and Rolls-Royce. Instead of relying on separate data sources and integration processes across individual operators, QOCO’s platform consolidates information and feeds it into Rolls-Royce systems.

Operational data can provide visibility into engine performance and support the identification and investigation of issues. This can contribute to more informed troubleshooting and maintenance decisions while supporting Rolls-Royce’s wider aftermarket services.

The expansion also illustrates the growing role of digital data in engine MRO. As engine fleets become increasingly connected, manufacturers and maintenance organisations are using operational data to monitor reliability, identify potential issues and improve maintenance planning.

The extension of QOCO’s service across the modern Trent fleet therefore represents an expansion of the digital infrastructure supporting Rolls-Royce engine maintenance and aftermarket operations.
