2 June 2020: Are you planning to board a Qatar Airway flight in coming days, you are in for a surprise. In their measures to offer a safe flight experience for passengers and crew members, Qatar Airways have introduced protective kit for everyone boarding the flight along with face shields. This kit has a single-use surgical face mask, large disposable powder-free gloves and an alcohol based hand sanitizer gel. The economy class passengers will have to wear the face shield along with the mask except at mealtimes. Also children below two years of age are exempted from this rule.

As an extra layer of protection the cabin crew members will be donning a protective gown over their uniforms along with safety glasses, gloves and mask.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said, “Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, the safety of our passengers has been our highest priority. By introducing these additional onboard safety and hygiene measures, our customers can rely on us and our unparalleled expertise to fly them safely to their destination. As the largest international airline flying consistently throughout the pandemic, we have become one of the most experienced in safety and hygiene. We will continue to lead the industry in terms of the services offered to our passengers, so that they can travel with confidence.”

Some amount of leniency is reflected towards the business class customers considering the spacious seating and their privacy. They can wear the face shields at their own discretion on-board. Also they will be provided with a 75ml extra sanitizer gel. The Qsuite passengers are free to opt for Do not disturb sign if they wish to limit their interaction with crew members.
