Pratt & Whitney is investing $25 mn to expand its precision manufacturing facility in Niepołomice, Poland, increasing production capacity for complex tubular assemblies used in commercial and military aircraft engines.
The expansion is scheduled to become operational in 2028 and will add more than 120 jobs at the facility. The additional capacity is intended to support increasing production requirements for Pratt & Whitney engine programmes.
The Niepołomice facility currently manufactures precision components for several engine families, including the Pratt & Whitney GTF, PW800 and F135.
The GTF powers commercial aircraft such as the Airbus A220 and Embraer E2 family, while the PW800 powers business jets. The F135 powers all variants of the F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft.
The expansion increases the manufacturing capacity available for engine components that form part of the wider aircraft engine support chain. Component availability is particularly important for engines operating across large commercial and military fleets, where replacement and repaired parts must be supplied during scheduled maintenance and unscheduled events.
The investment follows a separate $100 mn expansion announced for Pratt & Whitney facilities in Rzeszów, Poland. That project is focused on increasing production capacity and adding capabilities for processing isothermally forged parts used in the GTF, F135 and F100 engines.
Together, the investments expand Pratt & Whitney’s component manufacturing footprint in Poland across several engine programmes. The facilities produce components ranging from complex structures to critical engine parts.
The Niepołomice site manufactures components including parts for the GTF fan drive gear system, F100 static structures and F135 components. These parts support engine production as well as the broader lifecycle requirements of aircraft powered by the engines.
Dariusz Stopa, General Manager of Pratt & Whitney in Niepołomice, said, “Poland plays a vital role as a key hub in Pratt & Whitney’s global engine production, a commitment further strengthened by our $125 mn investment in facilities this year. Our employees in Niepołomice manufacture high-precision engine components that support commercial and military aircraft around the world. Growing this team will increase our ability to meet global demand for advanced aircraft engines.”
Pratt & Whitney’s Polish operations also cover manufacturing and technology development for commercial and military engines, turboprops and auxiliary power units.

The expansion is relevant to the engine MRO market as operators increasingly require access to replacement components, repair capabilities and supply-chain support throughout an engine’s service life. Increased component production capacity can also support engine overhaul and maintenance networks by improving access to parts required during shop visits.
With the GTF, PW800, F135 and F100 programmes operating across commercial, business aviation and military fleets, the additional manufacturing capacity will support a range of engine component requirements as these fleets expand and remain in service.
