New facility to enhance maintenance capabilities, support growing M-Class fleet and strengthen aftermarket services across the Americas
Piper Aircraft is all set to expand its manufacturing campus in Vero Beach, Florida, with the construction of a new factory-supported service centre aimed at strengthening maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) support for its growing fleet of general aviation aircraft.
The new facility, scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2027, will serve customers across the Eastern United States, the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America, providing factory-backed maintenance services, aircraft deliveries and customer support.
The two-storey service centre will feature more than 33,000 square feet of indoor operational space, complemented by an additional 11,000 square feet of outdoor service area. Once completed, the facility will include seven indoor aircraft maintenance bays and four outdoor service bays, enabling Piper to expand its maintenance capacity and improve aircraft turnaround times.
Groundbreaking for the project is expected later this year, with the opening coinciding with Piper Aircraft’s 90th anniversary in 2027.
According to the company, the expansion will create at least 20 new jobs, including aircraft maintenance technicians, FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanics and customer support personnel, further strengthening Piper’s technical workforce.
Commenting on the expansion, John Calcagno, President and Chief Executive Officer of Piper Aircraft, said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to customer support and operational excellence.
“As we approach 90 years of aviation history, this expansion demonstrates our continued commitment to our customers and to our home in Vero Beach. The airport’s excellent aviation infrastructure and heavy-jet capability make it an ideal location for a modern service centre that will deliver factory-quality maintenance while avoiding the congestion of larger aviation hubs,” Calcagno said.
Ron Gunnarson, Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Customer Support and Quality, said the facility is being developed to support the company’s expanding M-Class fleet while enhancing the ownership experience.
“The new Piper Service Center is a strategic investment designed to support our rapidly growing M-Class fleet. The facility will provide a full range of factory-backed maintenance services, from routine inspections to heavy maintenance and specialised repairs, offering customers an unprecedented level of technical support,” Gunnarson said.
The new service centre represents a significant investment in factory-authorised maintenance infrastructure for the general aviation sector. By bringing aircraft servicing, heavy maintenance, inspections and repair capabilities under one roof, Piper aims to improve fleet availability, reduce maintenance downtime and provide operators with direct access to OEM expertise.

The expansion also reflects a broader trend among aircraft manufacturers to invest in dedicated aftermarket facilities as fleets continue to grow and customer expectations increasingly focus on faster turnaround times, enhanced technical support and lifecycle service solutions.
With the new facility, Piper Aircraft is reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting aircraft operators throughout the operational life of their fleets while expanding its global aftermarket footprint and strengthening customer support across the Americas.
