StandardAero has announced a leadership transition, with CEO Russell Ford set to retire after 13 years at the helm and 45 years in the aerospace industry. The company’s Board of Directors has appointed the current Lead Independent Director, Paul McElhinney, as CEO, effective October 1, 2026.
Ford will remain Executive Chairman through December 31, 2026, before McElhinney assumes the role of Chairman on January 1, 2027. Ford will continue serving on the Board thereafter.
During Ford’s tenure, StandardAero grew annual revenue from $1.6 billion in 2013 to more than $6 billion in 2025 and completed its IPO in 2024. McElhinney, a veteran aerospace executive and board member since 2019, brings more than 35 years of industry experience, including senior leadership roles at GE Aviation Services and GE Power Services.
The Board said the appointment reflects its long-term succession planning efforts and positions the company for continued growth in the aerospace aftermarket sector.
