OMNI Air Taxi to Upgrade Fleet with Honeywell’s IntuVue RDR-7000 Weather Radar for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency.

Honeywell will upgrade OMNI Air Taxi’s fleet of 31 Leonardo AW139 helicopters with the IntuVue RDR-7000 Weather Radar System. This enhances weather anticipation and flight safety. The RDR-7000 is an advanced, automated flight system that helps pilots anticipate weather, enhancing safety by facilitating safer flight paths. The radar system upgrade will enhance navigational capabilities and reduce pilot workload. It will also lower maintenance costs and increase helicopter availability, surpassing legacy systems’ reliability.

José Vinicius Martins, regional sales manager, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, said “Any gaps in helicopter availability can negatively impact operations, by reducing delays and downtime caused by weather incidents and windshear, the integration of Honeywell’s reliable RDR-7000 radar system will enable OMNI operators to lower operational costs. In tandem, pilots will be able to make quicker decisions before flying in challenging environments because they’ll no longer need to manually upload weather conditions or adjust the antenna tilt.”

OMNI, based in Brazil, provides air transport, cargo, and aeromedical services with its fleet of AW139 helicopters. OMNI’s 71-aircraft fleet operates nationwide, serving diverse transport needs and establishing the company as a leader in Brazil’s offshore sector. The company has conducted approximately 700,000 passenger journeys, accumulated 650,000 flight hours, and transported over 5 million passengers.

Roberto Coimbra, CEO, OMNI, said “In line with Omni’s constant search for state-of-the-art solutions that provide maximum safety for our customers, having the opportunity to upgrade our AW139 helicopter fleet weather radars with Honeywell’s, starting with nine aircraft in 2024, is a great technological achievement. With this decision, we hope to further strengthen this lasting partnership between the two companies.”

The RDR-7000 is a fully automated weather radar system known for superior reliability, accuracy, and durability. It outperforms legacy magnetron-based radar systems in these aspects. It allows helicopter and business jet customers to remotely activate advanced software features. This provides a clear view of weather conditions along common routes.
