The Northrop Grumman and Rohde & Schwarz partnership will address current and future challenges related to resilient communications systems across Europe including multifunctional technologies and upgrades on 5th and 4th generation aircraft.


Northrop Grumman Corporation and Rohde & Schwarz have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at the Berlin Security Conference in Germany. The partnership aims to address current and future challenges related to resilient communications systems across Europe. This includes multifunctional technologies and upgrades to enhance interoperability between 5th and 4th-generation aircraft.

Key aspects of the MOU include:

Technology Development: The collaboration seeks to strengthen the development of resilient, trusted, secure multifunctional capabilities. The focus is on connecting platforms seamlessly across air, ground, sea, and space domains.

Multi-Domain Connectivity: The parties aim to collaborate on strategic multi-domain connectivity, specifically for air-to-air and air-to-ground communications. This extends to integration with ground-based air defense systems, fostering a comprehensive approach to communication in various scenarios.

Strategic Alignment: The collaboration is designed to identify and pursue opportunities that leverage the strengths of both Northrop Grumman and Rohde & Schwarz. The goal is to deliver top-tier solutions in alignment with Germany’s National Security Strategy, NATO goals, and European Union Defence objectives.
