Rod McLean, vice president and general manager, Lockheed Martin’s Air Mobility & Maritime Missions line of business, said, “From supporting humanitarian and disaster relief operations to partnering with allies in military operations, New Zealand’s C-130s are truly a global force for good. The RNZAF’s new C-130J fleet will continue to support these critical missions while offering New Zealand increased allied alignment, greater reach, enhanced capabilities, and proven performance for some of the most demanding tactical airlift operational requirements.”

Modernization of New Zealand’s Tactical Airlift: The C-130J-30 Takes the Lead

In 2020, New Zealand officials set the course for a significant upgrade of their airlift capabilities by announcing the replacement of their existing fleet of five C-130Hs with five advanced C-130J-30 variants through a Foreign Military Sale with the U.S. Air Force. This modernization effort has been a collaborative endeavor, with a joint project team from New Zealand’s Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force working closely with the U.S. Air Force and Lockheed Martin to oversee the aircraft delivery and training programs.

The C-130J-30 Super Hercules stands at the forefront of tactical airlift innovation, continually evolving to meet the demands of modern missions. As a leader in its class, the Super Hercules sets new standards and shapes the future of tactical airlift operations with a host of unparalleled advantages.

What makes C-130J-30 different is its proven operational readiness and ease of transition, making it a reliable choice for contemporary airlift needs.
