MTU’s leasing and asset management arm, MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V. (MLS), has announced a strategic minority investment in TRecs, a digital platform focused on streamlining Open Item List (OIL) management across the engine lifecycle.
The investment marks a significant step in advancing digital transformation within the engine leasing and asset management sector. Through the deployment of the TRecs platform, MLS aims to enhance collaboration, transparency, and efficiency throughout engine transitions, lease returns, technical reviews, shop visits, and asset management processes.
TRecs provides a cloud-based, centralised platform that enables lessors, airlines, MROs, financial institutions, and technical stakeholders to manage open items in real time through a single, auditable digital workflow. The platform is designed to replace fragmented communication channels with a structured system that reduces turnaround times, minimises disputes, and improves documentation quality across the engine lifecycle.
Commenting on the development, Remko Bruinsma, Managing Director of MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V., said the investment reflects the company’s belief that digitalisation is essential for reducing complexity in engine transitions and improving operational efficiency for customers and lessors alike.
Philipp Mintchin, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of TRecs, described the investment as a strong endorsement of the platform and its vision to establish a digital standard for engine transitions within the leasing industry.
Marc Pronilow, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of TRecs, added that the partnership highlights the growing industry demand for streamlined digital solutions capable of supporting the entire engine lifecycle, beginning with engine transitions and extending into broader asset management functions.
The move further strengthens MLS’s strategy of combining operational excellence with technology-driven innovation, while positioning TRecs for wider adoption across the global engine leasing ecosystem.
