20 July 2020: The entire aerospace industry has geared up in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Forefront in this fight are Airports, Airlines, OEMs and various MRO companies that are using innovative technologies to beat the pandemic. All the airports across the globe are equipped with sanitizers and disinfection methods to prevent the spread of the virus. Latest to join the list is the Moscow Domodedovo airport. They have introduced a hospital grade disinfectant for their airline partners. The disinfectant is a chemical composition and it complies with the recommendations of Russia’s consumer protection watchdog Rospotrebnadzor. A typical Boeing 737 or Airbus 320 takes about 15 to 20 minutes to completely disinfect using this method.

Apart from this disinfection method, strict sanitation guidelines are followed on the airport. All public spaces and vehicles are regularly disinfected. Digital displays and announcements are made at periodic intervals to remind passengers to wear masks and gloves. There are special markings across the airport premises to reinforce social distancing norms. All employees working at the airport, crew members and passengers are systematically tested for COVID-19 to prevent the spread of virus.
