Memorial Hermann Life Flight to debut H160 for HEMS, adding four H145s to its fleet for enhanced medical services.

Memorial Hermann Life Flight has ordered one H160 and four H145 helicopters. These will replace its current fleet of EC145 helicopters. The nationally recognized emergency medical services program will be the first worldwide to operate the H160 for HEMS.

Memorial Hermann Life Flight, provided by Memorial Hermann Health System, was founded in 1976 by trauma surgeon James “Red” Duke, M.D. It serves a 150-mile radius around the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The program has exclusively used Airbus helicopters since its inception. Memorial Hermann Life Flight has flown over 1,66,000 lifesaving missions.

The H160 is currently in service in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia, France, and other European countries. Moreover, They have ordered it for various uses, including energy, private business aviation, HEMS, search and rescue, law enforcement, and military missions. Furthermore, The H160 features the largest cabin in its class, sliding doors, and low vibration levels. Additionally, it maintains a flat attitude in flight and incorporates Blue Edge rotor blades. Consequently, it is the quietest helicopter in its class, providing a more comfortable experience for patients and healthcare professionals.

Tom Flanagan, Consultant and Program Director, said, “The enhanced technology and safety features, larger cabin and cargo space, increased fuel load and shorter reconfiguration times will provide us with the capabilities of a mobile intensive care unit.”

The H145 family includes over 1,675 helicopters, which have accumulated more than 7.6 million flight hours. Powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, the H145 features full authority digital engine control (FADEC). The Helionix digital avionics suite equips the helicopter with a high-performance 4-axis autopilot. Moreover, This system enhances safety and reduces pilot workload. Additionally, the H145 has a particularly low acoustic footprint, making it the quietest helicopter in its class. Furthermore, it boasts the lowest CO2 emissions among its competitors.
