Magellan Aerospace to support production of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation CH-53K LRIP helicopter.
The CH-53K helicopter achieved its initial operating capability in 2022 and is on track to deploy to the fleet in 2024.

Magellan Aerospace Corporation will provide support for the low rate initial production (LRIP) for assemblies of the CH-53K LRIP configuration helicopter.

Magellan Aerospace Corporation (“Magellan”) recently announced that the company has been awarded a production support contract by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation (“Sikorsky”). According to the contract Magellan Aerospace Corporation will provide support for the low rate initial production (LRIP) for assemblies of the CH-53K LRIP configuration helicopter. The multi-year, multi-million dollar agreement will be delivered from Magellan’s New York facility commencing in 2023. Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is a Lockheed Martin Company.

The production support contract consists of hard metal, machined delivered to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) for the production of the CH-53K King Stallion which is the next generation heavy-lift helicopter being produced to replace the CH-53E Super Stallion. The USMC’s procurement objective is 200 helicopters. The CH-53K helicopter achieved its initial operating capability in 2022 and is on track to deploy to the fleet in 2024. The Marine Corps plans to deploy the first CH-53K Marine Expeditionary Unit detachment in fiscal year 2024.
