MACH OE has taken delivery of two new Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft and placed them on long-term leases with United Airlines, marking the first aircraft acquisitions for the newly established open-ended aircraft fund.
The two aircraft form part of a targeted acquisition programme that will see MACH OE add further aircraft in the coming months as it builds its initial portfolio.
MACH OE was jointly established and is operated by MIC and Airborne Capital (ACL). The companies announced the launch of the open-ended aircraft fund in January 2026, with Development Bank of Japan Inc. serving as an anchor investor at the fund’s first close on April 30, 2026.
MIC and ACL have also completed a strategic business alliance with Daiwa JPI Alternative Investments (DKAI), a group company of Daiwa Securities Group. DKAI and Daiwa Asset Management will support MACH OE’s growth through operational services and by connecting the fund with a broader range of investors.
According to MHD research, MACH OE is the first open-ended aircraft fund established by a Japan-based asset manager. The fund is expected to attract primarily institutional investors, including financial institutions, pension funds, corporations and educational institutions.

MACH OE aims to grow its aircraft asset portfolio to more than $1 billion as it expands through additional acquisitions.
Toshihiro Toyoshima, Representative Director of MIC, said the new Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft provide an ideal starting point for the fund, given their new technology and strong market demand. He added that MACH OE plans to make further asset additions in the coming months.
Ramki Sundaram, CEO of Airborne Capital, said the company is working with MIC on structuring and originating additional aircraft assets for the fund, alongside further capital-raising initiatives.
The latest deliveries mark the initial step in MACH OE’s strategy to build a diversified aircraft portfolio and expand its presence in the global aviation asset investment market.
