Lufthansa Technik has welcomed 287 new apprentices and dual-study students across its German locations as the MRO provider marks 70 years of vocational training.
The company said all available apprenticeship and dual-study positions for the 2026 intake were filled, highlighting continued interest in technical careers and the aviation MRO sector. The new recruits will train across technical, logistics, commercial and academic disciplines, with a strong focus on aircraft and engine maintenance, electronics and production technology.
“Seventy years of training at Lufthansa Technik represent generations of young people who have contributed to our success story with their knowledge, dedication, and passion,” said Dr. Janna Schumacher, Chief Human Resources Officer, Lufthansa Technik. She added that the strong response to the 2026 programmes demonstrates the continued attractiveness of aviation career opportunities.
Hamburg remains Lufthansa Technik’s largest training centre, welcoming 220 new trainees, including 191 apprentices and 29 dual students. Their programmes cover technical, logistics and commercial roles, as well as degree programmes in aviation, engineering and computer science.
At Frankfurt, 26 new trainees have joined Lufthansa Technik and Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, while Munich has welcomed two new logistics apprentices. Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey has added 20 trainees, most of whom will specialise in engine maintenance technology, alongside programmes in IT, logistics and office administration.
At N3 Engine Overhaul Services in Arnstadt, 19 new trainees are beginning their aviation careers, primarily in engine maintenance technology and logistics.
The 2026 intake comes as Lufthansa Technik marks 70 years of vocational training. The company began its training programme in Hamburg in 1956 with 40 apprentices. Since then, thousands of professionals have developed their careers within the organisation, with many progressing into technical, management and training roles.

The evolution of Lufthansa Technik’s training programmes also reflects the changing requirements of the MRO industry, expanding from traditional aircraft mechanics and radio technicians to include advanced maintenance, engineering, electronics, IT, logistics and other specialised disciplines.
With the aviation industry facing an increasing shortage of skilled technical talent, Lufthansa Technik has already opened applications for its 2027 apprenticeship and dual-study intake, continuing its focus on developing the next generation of aviation and MRO professionals.
