Lufthansa Technik AG recently received an order for the VIP interior of a brand-new Airbus ACJ320neo from an unnamed private customer. The plane is scheduled to arrive at the company’s cabin completion centre in Hamburg in late summer 2023, where it will be outfitted with a new interior by spring 2024.

The aircraft is designed to meet the highest demands, with customised fittings for both private travel and charter operations. This will also apply to the VIP jet’s in-flight entertainment and communications system, which will be based on a cutting-edge satellite communication system.

The cabin design, based on conceptual renderings from Lufthansa Technik’s in-house design centre in Hamburg, was created in close collaboration with the customer. From the deliberately open Grand Entrance behind the cockpit through various lounge and office areas to the spacious and very private Master Bedroom in the rear, the cabin layout is linear and strictly oriented to the need for privacy.

The cabin’s flexible design allows it to be used for a variety of purposes, from regular private trips for the owner and his family to chartering the aircraft to demanding individual travel groups. This adaptability is reflected not only in the choice of luxurious, yet extremely durable interior materials, but also in the aircraft’s certification, for which Lufthansa Technik will obtain Supplemental Type Certification for private and commercial flight operations.

Lufthansa Technik will incorporate a cabin air humidification system into the aircraft to improve passenger comfort even further. Furthermore, the aircraft’s interior will meet the highest standards for on-board entertainment and connectivity. Only a few large screens, some of which are retractable, will be installed in the cabin due to a clear focus on integrating passengers’ personal digital devices. Passengers will be able to transfer their personal content to the built-in displays at any time, just like in a smart home.

“With its flexible interior and a top-notch entertainment system, this aircraft will set completely new standards for narrow body VIP cabins,” explained Michael von Puttkamer, Vice President Special Aircraft Services at Lufthansa Technik. “But what pleases me even more is that we were able to convince the customer not only with our world-leading design, engineering and cabin completion expertise, but with a complete package of tailor-made services. We are the only company in the world that can offer such a comprehensive package for VIP aircraft from a single source,” he further added.

In addition to the completion of the VIP cabin, Lufthansa Technik will provide an Aircraft Production Inspection Program (APIP), the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO), and, after delivery, aircraft maintenance and component support for the customer for an initial period of five years as part of the contract.
