Lufthansa Technik and Qantas signs a Cyclean ® Engine Wash agreement

Lufthansa Technik AG and Qantas signed a Cyclean ® Engine Wash deal, whereby engine cleaning will be carried out on CFM56-7 engines of the Qantas Boeing 737 fleet. The programme started successfully in January and the engine washing initially took place completely in Melbourne, Australia.

145 Aviation Services, part of the Permagard Group are carrying out this engine wash programmed. Lufthansa Technik commissioned Qantas as service provider for Cyclean ® Engine Wash in Melbourne at the beginning of 2016. The vehicle can also be deployed flexibly at other locations in the Melbourne area.

“We are delighted to have won Qantas, Australia’s largest airline, as a customer for our Cyclean® Engine Wash on the fifth continent,” said Oliver C. Winter, Head of Engine Life Cycle Services. “Following this successful launch in Melbourne, we want to continually expand our network of Cyclean® stations around the country.” Further stations are already being planned for Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

The mobile Cyclean® Engine Wash equipment will be presented by Lufthansa Technik and 145 Aviation Services this year at the Australian International Airshow at Avalon Airport from 28 February to 05 March in the outdoor grounds at the show.

Cyclean® Engine Wash is up to 70 percent faster than other engine cleaning methods and can be carried out without constraint anywhere on the airport site. The new engine wash can be used on all modern engine models from the leading manufacturers including General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, CFMI, and IAE. So far, more than 80,000 engine washes have been carried out worldwide for more than 40 airline customers using Cyclean® Engine Wash.
