Maggio will succeed Dorothea von Boxberg, who is set to leave the airline on August 31 at her own request.

She is currently serving as chief strategy and integration officer at ITA Airways, where she has been responsible for overseeing the carrier’s integration into the Lufthansa Group since January 2025.

Maggio brings extensive experience from across the Lufthansa Group, having previously held senior leadership positions in commercial, strategy and brand functions at Lufthansa, Eurowings and LSG Group.
Commenting on the appointment, Dieter Vranckx, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding and CCO of Lufthansa Group, said Maggio is “a highly accomplished and internationally experienced airline executive” with a deep understanding of both the aviation industry and the group’s operations.
“With her proven expertise, she will lead Brussels Airlines as an integrated hub airline within the Lufthansa Group,” Vranckx said. He added that the group was pleased to appoint a successor from within its own ranks and thanked Dorothea von Boxberg for her many years of successful service to Lufthansa Group.
The appointment underscores Lufthansa Group’s strategy of strengthening integration across its airline portfolio while retaining experienced leadership from within the organization.
