Lufthansa Group Extends Wet Lease Partnership with airBaltic
Under the wet lease arrangement, airBaltic will supply both the aircraft and crew.

airBaltic will provide up to 26 A220-300 aircraft throughout the year at various Lufthansa Group hubs.

Lufthansa Group has renewed its wet lease agreement with long-standing partner airBaltic for an additional three years beyond summer 2025. As a par tof the renewed deal airBaltic will provide up to 21 Airbus A220-300 aircraft in summer and five aircraft in winter at various Lufthansa Group hubs.

The extended partnership is designed to enhance operational flexibility and meet seasonal demand fluctuations. By integrating airBaltic’s additional capacity, Lufthansa Group airlines claims that it can better serve high-demand destinations and improve connectivity with intercontinental services at its hubs. Under the wet lease arrangement, airBaltic will supply both the aircraft and crew.

airBaltic, Latvia’s largest airline based in Riga, has been a key partner of the Lufthansa Group since 2019, demonstrating consistent reliability and value.

Meanwhile Lufthansa is reportedly considering acquiring a stake in airBaltic, ahead of its highly anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO). As per sources, Lufthansa is exploring its options concerning airBaltic’s IPO. This acquisition of a stake in airBaltic aligns with Lufthansa’s long-term strategy of strengthening its network through strategic acquisitions and partnerships.

Over the years, Lufthansa has absorbed several regional and national airlines, including Swiss and Austrian Airlines, boosting its capacity to compete against low-cost and legacy carriers.
