Lessor ITOCHU enters the aircraft aftermarket

ITOCHU Corporation enters the aircraft aftermarket sector
This partnership aligns with ITOCHU’s management policy, “The Brand-New Deal: Profit opportunities are shifting downstream.”

Through Killick Aerospace’s acquisition, ITOCHU aims to enhance its commercial aviation business portfolio, complementing its existing aircraft leasing operations.

ITOCHU Corporation has announced a strategic investment in Killick Aerospace Limited specializes in Commercial Aircraft and Engine solutions for Airbus and Boeing platforms. This investment represents ITOCHU’s inaugural entry into the aircraft aftermarket industry, complementing its existing aircraft leasing operations.

The aircraft aftermarket sector is anticipated to experience substantial growth, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The demand for Used Serviceable Material (USM)—parts re-certified by approved repair facilities—is projected to rise to approximately $11 billion by 2032, reflecting a 1.5-fold increase from current levels. The growing demand for USM is driven by record air passenger volumes, cost-reduction needs, shortened lead times for parts procurement, and sustainability considerations.

Killick, a leader in the aircraft aftermarket space for nearly two decades, operates across key global markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Australia. In recent years, Killick has diversified its offerings, adding Nitrogen Generation System (NGS) components and other critical equipment manufactured by Honeywell for Boeing aircraft types to its portfolio.

ITOCHU, with its established presence in commercial aerospace through aircraft leasing and management, seeks to leverage synergies between its capabilities and Killick’s aftermarket services. This partnership aligns with ITOCHU’s management policy, “The Brand-New Deal: Profit opportunities are shifting downstream,” focusing on expanding downstream investments and business areas.
