L3Harris Technologies has named Sam Mehta President and CEO, effective immediately, following Christopher Kubasik’s departure from the company’s board and leadership positions. Lewis Hay III, previously the company’s Lead Independent Director, has become Independent Chairman of the Board.
Mehta joined L3Harris in 2023 and has more than 25 years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry. He most recently led the company’s Space & Mission Systems (SMS) and Communications & Spectrum Dominance (CSD) businesses, which together account for more than 80% of L3Harris’ revenue.
Hay said Mehta has a strong understanding of the company’s operations and will lead L3Harris as it continues its current business strategy.
Following Mehta’s move to the CEO role, Lauren Barnes has been named President of SMS, while Christopher Aebli will lead CSD. Both appointments are effective immediately.
L3Harris also said it will continue its previously announced $3 billion investment to expand solid rocket motor production and strengthen its supply chain, under the leadership of Missile Solutions President Kenneth Bedingfield.

The company said Kubasik’s departure followed an internal investigation into conduct that it determined was inconsistent with its Code of Conduct. L3Harris said the matter was not related to financial reporting, internal controls, customer relationships or operational performance. The Board decided to enter into a separation agreement with Kubasik following the investigation.
L3Harris also reaffirmed its 2026 financial guidance, including consolidated revenue, organic growth, segment operating margin, GAAP earnings per share, and free cash flow.
