The newly delivered Boeing 747-8 aircraft will support customers on volatile trade lanes with reliable service, reduced transit times and increased efficiencies.
Apex Logistics International, a Kuehne+Nagel company, will put into operation the last Boeing 747-8 freighter as part of the long-term charter agreement with Atlas Air, Inc., a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. The aircraft will support customers on volatile trade lanes with reliable service, reduced transit times and increased efficiencies.
“The names we chose for the last two iconic aircraft fit their legacy – ‘Inspire.’ and ‘Empower.’ We look forward to seeing the last 747-8F aircraft taking off to fulfill the versatile needs of our customers worldwide with unmatched capability,” said Yngve Ruud, Member of the Management Board responsible for Air Logistics, Kuehne+Nagel.
The final Boeing 747-8F, dubbed “Empower.,” which had been in production for 50 years, was unveiled to the public during a formal ceremony at the Boeing Everett Delivery Center in Seattle.

With its distinctive nose-loading capability, payload capacity, and fuel efficiency, the “Queen of the Skies” helped launch the global air logistics industry. The event marks the end of her reign. After the inaugural Kuehne+Nagel aircraft, “Inspire,” “Empower” will fly on Transpacific routes, enhancing the intra-Asian network’s connectivity.
