Joby Aviation has begun a week-long eVTOL flight campaign in the Dallas-Fort Worth region under Texas’ Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) Integration Pilot Program (eIPP). The flights will cover routes between Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport (AFW), Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), and other North Texas locations.
The September 10–14 schedule includes a flight demonstration at AFW, a flight into DFW Corporate Aviation, a round trip between AFW and Arlington, and a flight connecting AFW with Toyota Motor North America’s headquarters in Plano.
The flights are intended to provide operational data on eVTOL aircraft operating in controlled and urban airspace. The campaign includes flights into DFW’s controlled airspace and operations between AFW and planned urban destinations.
Joby and NASA have previously studied eVTOL operations in the DFW area. A 2023 simulation examined the feasibility of operating up to 50 electric air-taxi operations per hour in the DFW terminal area.
Joby has also leased a 45,000-square-foot facility at Perot Field within the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone. The facility is intended to support the company’s activities in the region.
FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said, “The FAA is leveraging data from test flights in Texas and across the country to ensure these new aircraft integrate safely into the airspace.”

The campaign comes as Joby continues the final stage of its FAA type-certification programme. The company is conducting testing of conforming aircraft in support of Type Inspection Authorization (TIA).
The Texas flights will provide additional operational experience covering aircraft performance, airspace integration and procedures at airports used by conventional aviation.
