Jin Air will lease 14 aircraft from Korean Air and Asiana Airlines as it prepares for the launch of the Korean Air Group’s integrated low-cost carrier (LCC), scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
The leased fleet will comprise 10 Airbus A321neo aircraft, one Airbus A321ceo and three Boeing 737-900s, with deliveries set to begin sequentially from September 2026.
The lease agreements, valued at approximately KRW708 billion, will remain in effect through December 2035, providing Jin Air with additional capacity while supporting the group’s fleet integration strategy.
The acquisition marks a significant shift in Jin Air’s fleet composition, introducing Airbus aircraft into an operation that currently consists of 32 Boeing 737 and Boeing 777 aircraft.

The move is expected to ease the planned integration of Jin Air with fellow Korean Air Group low-cost carriers Air Busan and Air Seoul, both of which already operate Airbus aircraft.
As part of its transition, Jin Air has introduced an Airbus A321neo full-flight simulator and is developing joint pilot training programmes to support the harmonisation of operations across the three airlines.
The fleet expansion forms part of the group’s broader strategy to establish a unified low-cost carrier by 2027, enhancing operational efficiency while streamlining fleet commonality and pilot training across its airline subsidiaries.
