JetBlue Appoints David Marcontell VP of Technical Operations
Marcontell holds a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in engineering management from Mercer University.

Marcontell will oversee maintenance, materials, engineering, quality, and other functions, reporting to COO Warren Christie.

JetBlue has recently announced the appointment of David Marcontell as the new Vice President of Technical Operations, effective June 17. In this role, He will oversee maintenance, materials, engineering, quality, and other operational functions. He will report directly to Warren Christie, the Chief Operating Officer. He brings nearly four decades of industry experience to JetBlue. His career began with the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a C-130 maintenance and engineering officer. He subsequently joined Delta Air Lines, holding various positions in engineering and procurement.

Marcontell subsequently held engineering and operational roles at ABX Air, Boeing, and North-South Airways before transitioning to Oliver Wyman CAVOK. During his two decades with the aviation advisory firm, he led over 200 global engagements. In 2021, He joined Connect Airlines, a pre-revenue carrier, as its founding Chief Operating Officer.

Warren Christie, chief operating officer, JetBlue, said  “Dave brings deep industry expertise as we continue to focus on improving reliability across our operation, He will play a critical role in ensuring our technical operations crewmembers have the skills, tools, and resources they need to deliver safe and reliable aircraft.”

More recently, Marcontell served as an Expert Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in airline operations, OEM aftermarket services, and airline and independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in engineering management from Mercer University.
