Jamco America and Airtech to Innovate Aerospace Manufacturing with 3DP Tool Recycling
The collaboration promises to accelerate the production of aerospace components while cutting costs and minimizing environmental impact.

The collaboration promises to accelerate the production of aerospace components while cutting costs and minimizing environmental impact.

Jamco America and Airtech Advanced Materials Group are set to revolutionize the aerospace industry by introducing advanced 3D printing (3DP) tool recycling techniques. This partnership aims to drive greater sustainability, cost-efficiency, and safety within the industry, paving the way for a more innovative and eco-friendly future.

The collaboration promises to accelerate the production of aerospace components while cutting costs and minimizing environmental impact. By integrating sustainable products and practices, Jamco and Airtech are leading the charge towards a greener future in aerospace manufacturing, setting new standards for efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The LFAM molds produced by Airtech employ the Dahltram I350CF thermoplastic resin, a fully recyclable polymer known for its durability and versatility. This advanced resin can be processed into either a blended formulation or a 100% recycled version, tailored to meet specific application needs.

The partnership between Jamco and Airtech began in 2006, with Airtech supplying composite manufacturing consumables and supporting materials to Jamco. In 2021, the collaboration expanded into large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) tooling.

Jamco’s goal is to explore LFAM technology for high-temperature applications, aiming to overcome the limitations of traditional composite layup tooling. This promises to significantly reduce lead times and supply chain delays while enhancing performance and reducing the risk of defects in finished parts.

Airtech’s ongoing testing is focused on optimizing these formulations to ensure they meet the rigorous performance standards required for high-demand aerospace tooling and molds. This process involves evaluating various blends to achieve the best balance of performance and sustainability, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and eco-friendliness of aerospace manufacturing. By refining these formulations, Airtech aims to support the production of superior-quality aerospace components while contributing to a more sustainable industry.
