JAL and MHI join forces to enhance aircraft maintenance services, leveraging expertise in operations, design, manufacturing, and MRO capabilities.

Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) have signed a memorandum to explore collaboration in the aircraft aftermarket business. This sector includes services such as repairs, maintenance, parts supply, and refurbishment, which are essential for maintaining aircraft safety. Additionally, these services enhance operational efficiency, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of aircraft.

As global aircraft demand recovers, the need for maintenance services is increasing. To address this, JAL and MHI are exploring a potential collaboration in the aircraft aftermarket sector. JAL Group, with its experience in aircraft operation and maintenance, contributes valuable operational expertise. On the other hand, MHI Group brings its strengths in aircraft design, development, manufacturing, certification, and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services, especially in North America.

Moving forward, JAL Engineering Co., Ltd. (JALEC), responsible for aircraft maintenance, will lead the collaboration efforts within the JAL Group.
