IndiGo selects Honeywell for avionics and power systems across 810 A320neo

Honeywell Aerospace has strengthened its presence in the commercial aviation market with two significant programme announcements at the Farnborough International Airshow, securing a major avionics and aircraft systems agreement with IndiGo while expanding its runway safety technology with Aeromexico.

Under the agreement with IndiGo, Honeywell will supply a comprehensive suite of avionics, power and safety systems for 810 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft, reinforcing its long-standing partnership with India’s largest airline. Honeywell has been supplying equipment for the carrier’s fleet since 2015, and IndiGo currently operates more than 400 aircraft.

The package includes Auxiliary Power Units (APUs), weather radar systems, Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS), Flight Management Systems (FMS) and long-term aftermarket support. The agreement will support IndiGo’s rapidly expanding narrowbody fleet while enhancing aircraft operational reliability, navigation capabilities and maintenance efficiency.

For the MRO ecosystem, the programme represents a significant long-term opportunity, as Honeywell’s integrated aftermarket support will play a key role in component maintenance, spare parts availability, technical services and lifecycle management throughout the aircraft’s operational life.

In a separate development, Honeywell announced that Aeromexico will equip more than 100 Boeing 737 Next Generation and 737 MAX aircraft with its Surface Alerts (SURF-A) runway safety technology.

SURF-A is designed to improve runway safety by providing pilots with real-time visual and aural alerts when an aircraft is at risk of a runway collision. The system combines Global Positioning System (GPS) data, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) information and advanced software analytics to monitor aircraft movements and identify potential traffic conflicts during ground operations.

The technology is intended to enhance situational awareness for flight crews and support safer operations at increasingly congested airports by providing early warning of potential runway incursions.

Honeywell said certification of the SURF-A system on selected Boeing aircraft is expected to commence with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the fourth quarter of 2026, with additional certifications continuing through 2027.

The company did not disclose the financial value of either agreement.

The latest announcements underscore Honeywell’s continued focus on supporting airlines through integrated avionics, connected aircraft technologies and digital safety solutions, while expanding its aftermarket services portfolio to improve fleet reliability, operational efficiency and lifecycle support for next-generation commercial aircraft.
