IAG expands AI-driven maintenance planning with Aer Lingus and AISmartPlan partnership

International Airlines Group (IAG) has announced a new commercial agreement between Aer Lingus and AISmartPlan, an AI-powered aircraft maintenance planning platform, following a successful collaboration through the IAGi Accelerator programme.

AISmartPlan joined IAG’s accelerator in 2025 and worked with Aer Lingus to trial its technology in a live operational environment. The platform replaces traditional manual maintenance planning processes with an automated system that integrates flight schedules, aircraft availability, workforce resources, and other operational data to create optimized maintenance plans.

The solution helps maintenance teams assign the right engineers to the right aircraft at the right time while providing user-friendly visualisation tools that enable faster decision-making and plan adjustments.

Following a three-month development period that transformed the technology from a proof of concept into a fully operational solution, Aer Lingus is now rolling out AISmartPlan’s platform across its maintenance production planning operations.
