Honeywell Connected Helicopter takes off

Honeywell attended HAI HELI-EXPO 2017 in Dallas this March to talk about the Connected Aircraft. Honeywell announced a number of new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and more underway that permit Honeywell’s connected helicopter solutions, including the Aspire 200 system and Health and Usage Monitoring Systems.

Honeywell Connected Helicopter Offerings:

Aspire 200 Satellite Communications System
The Aspire 200 offers a true broadband experience for the helicopter operator, providing consistent and high-speed connectivity through the rotor wash whether the helicopter is over land or water. At this year’s HELI-EXPO, Honeywell announced new STCs for the Leonardo AW139 and more in progress for the Sikorsky S-92 and UH-60 Blackhawk, and the Airbus AS332 Super Puma and AS350.

Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS)
HUMS incorporate with the Sky Connect Tracker III and Aspire 200 systems to maintain helicopters and decrease maintenance costs, aircraft downtime and total cost of aircraft ownership through its health and usage data. Honeywell announced STCs for the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk and S-76C+/++, Leonardo AW139, and Airbus EC145, as well as an STC pending FAA approval for the Airbus AS350. Honeywell also received Brazilian ANAC STCs for the Bell 206 and Airbus EC135 and EC145.

The Sky Connect Tracker III is a leading fleet tracking system with voice, text, data recording and mapping potential. Honeywell was the first to provide this synchronised integrated tracking and communication functions to operators.
