HeavyTech MRO expands Spain MRO capacity

New heavy maintenance complex to support up to four wide-body and fifteen narrow-body aircraft simultaneously

HeavyTech MRO is all set for a major expansion of its heavy maintenance capabilities with the development of a new MRO complex in Spain. The new facility will feature four hangars and significantly increase the company’s capacity to support both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft.

According to the company, the MRO complex will be capable of accommodating up to four wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A350, along with 15 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. The first hangar is currently in the final stages of construction and is expected to become fully operational in October 2026.

The investment forms part of HeavyTech’s long-term strategy to strengthen its heavy maintenance footprint and expand support for airline customers across Europe. Once completed, the facility will enhance the company’s ability to deliver scheduled heavy maintenance, structural repairs and other technical services for a growing customer base.

In a LinkedIn announcement, HeavyTech MRO described the project as more than an infrastructure expansion, stating that it represents the company’s vision for the future of heavy maintenance by adding greater capacity, enhanced capabilities and increased opportunities for airline partners.

The expansion comes at a time when demand for heavy maintenance capacity continues to grow globally, driven by fleet expansion, ageing aircraft and ongoing supply chain constraints that have increased the need for additional MRO infrastructure. The new Spanish facility is expected to strengthen Heston’s position in the European aftermarket while contributing additional maintenance capacity to support operators of both wide-body and narrow-body fleets.
