Harbour Air to acquire Pacific Coastal Airlines, creating 59-aircraft regional group

Harbour Air has agreed to acquire Pacific Coastal Airlines, bringing two British Columbia-based carriers together to form a regional aviation group with a combined fleet of 59 aircraft and operations serving 25 communities.

The acquisition will combine Harbour Air’s seaplane network with Pacific Coastal Airlines’ conventional regional services. Both airlines will retain their existing brands and continue operating independently until the transaction receives regulatory approval and formally closes.

The combined group is expected to operate up to 300 flights per day and employ more than 900 people. Existing routes are expected to continue, while the enlarged platform could support additional connectivity and partnerships with other airlines.

Vancouver to remain a key hub

Vancouver will serve as a principal hub for the combined group, with connections through Vancouver International Airport providing access to domestic and international airline networks.

Harbour Air also plans to introduce a common loyalty programme covering both airlines, creating a shared offering for passengers across the group’s expanded network.

The acquisition will bring together complementary fleet capabilities. Harbour Air‘s floatplanes and Pacific Coastal’s wheeled aircraft will allow the group to serve a broader range of regional markets while providing additional operational flexibility during weather-related disruptions.

Expanded platform for MRO and infrastructure investment

The enlarged fleet and operating network are also expected to create opportunities to invest in aircraft, maintenance capacity, infrastructure, and operating systems.

For the MRO sector, the combination could provide a larger platform for maintenance planning and fleet-support activities across both floatplane and conventional regional aircraft operations. The group also expects the expanded scale to support the development of additional regional routes and airline partnerships.

Harbour Air and Pacific Coastal Airlines will continue their existing operations while the transaction progresses through the regulatory process.

The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition or an expected closing date.
