HAECO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) to enhance aviation education, training and talent development in Vietnam, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country’s rapidly growing aviation sector.
The partnership combines HAECO’s more than 70 years of expertise in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services with HUST’s strong reputation in engineering education, applied research and industry collaboration. The initiative aims to create opportunities for students through training programmes, scholarships and career development pathways while helping build a sustainable pipeline of skilled aviation professionals.
The collaboration forms part of HAECO’s broader strategy to support Vietnam’s aviation industry through local workforce development as the company expands its presence across Southeast Asia, one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
“We have built our reputation on safety, quality and capability across the markets we serve,” said Tom Owen, Group Director Corporate Development at HAECO. “It is our pleasure to collaborate with one of the most prestigious schools in Vietnam to provide a platform that trains next-generation talents who will propel the industry forward and support the industry’s long-term growth in the region.”
Dr. Truong Hoanh Son, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at HUST, welcomed the partnership, highlighting its potential to strengthen industry-academic collaboration.
“HUST strives to prepare our students to meet evolving industry needs,” he said. “With HAECO’s reputation in the aviation and aircraft maintenance industries and its commitment to nurturing future talents, we look forward to building a long-term collaboration with HAECO in furthering student training, scholarships and career development.”
Since 1950, HAECO has played a leading role in aviation engineering and MRO services, with a strong focus on workforce development and technical excellence. HUST, established in 1956 and celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, is one of Vietnam’s largest and most respected technical universities. Its School of Mechanical Engineering offers a range of engineering programmes, including aerospace engineering, supported by nearly 300 lecturers and staff.
The MoU reflects HAECO’s ongoing commitment to fostering aviation education partnerships and exploring opportunities for cooperative training programmes that will help develop the next generation of aviation professionals in Vietnam.
