HAECO extends Japan Airlines line maintenance contract in Hong Kong

HAECO has extended its line maintenance agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL) in Hong Kong through 2031, expanding the scope of services provided at Hong Kong International Airport.

Under the extended agreement, HAECO will support JAL’s Boeing 777, 767, 787, 737, and 767F aircraft. The scope will include scheduled maintenance tasks and deep cleaning, in addition to existing mechanic support, Certificate of Release to Service (CRS), pushback, and cabin cleaning services.

The addition of scheduled maintenance tasks expands the technical scope of the agreement, covering maintenance activities carried out between flights and during aircraft turnarounds, including inspections and defect rectification within the approved scope.

The agreement also adds deep cleaning to the existing cabin support services, covering both technical and cabin-related requirements for JAL’s aircraft operating through Hong Kong.

Gerald Steinhoff, Chief Commercial Officer at HAECO, stated, “We are proud to extend our long-standing line maintenance partnership with Japan Airlines, which has spanned more than a decade in Hong Kong. This renewed agreement reflects the trust JAL places in our team to consistently deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality services. With a broader scope that now includes additional technical and cabin support solutions, we remain committed to helping JAL maintain operational excellence across its growing regional network.”

HAECO has provided line maintenance services for JAL in Hong Kong since 2013. The support covers both passenger and cargo operations, including the Boeing 767F.

Takashi KOIMAI, Senior Vice President, Aircraft Maintenance Centre NARITA of JAL Engineering, said, “JAL and HAECO share a long-standing history of cooperation, and I am truly delighted that our new agreements for scheduled maintenance (SR Jobs) and Deep Cleaning have further strengthened our partnership. We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership and working closely together to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.”

The relationship also extends to JAL operations at several locations in mainland China, including Beijing, Dalian, Shanghai Pudong and Tianjin.

In 2025, HAECO became the first overseas MRO provider selected by JAL to perform advanced non-routine maintenance services at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This expanded the scope of support available to JAL beyond routine line maintenance.

The latest agreement keeps HAECO as JAL’s line maintenance provider in Hong Kong through 2031 while adding scheduled maintenance and deep cleaning to the existing service scope.
