Gulfstream opens $150M Savannah Service Center East, adds 200 jobs, and enhances aircraft capacity and sustainability.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has officially opened its expanded Customer Support service center at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. The Savannah Service Center East has added over 200 new jobs. Additionally, it significantly enhances Gulfstream’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities in the region. To commemorate the opening, officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony. State and local dignitaries, community partners, and Gulfstream leaders and employees attended the event.

Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support, said, “We continue to expand and enhance our service capabilities in support of the continued growth of Gulfstream’s next-generation fleet including the recently certified G700. The Savannah Service Center East expansion is part of our long-term strategic plan to create the industry’s most modern and sustainable service network, while significantly enhancing access and convenience for our customers.”

Gulfstream has invested over $150 million in the new 367,000-square-foot facility at the east side of the airport. This building complements the main Savannah Service Center by adding hangar space, offices, and back shops. Consequently, the expanded space allows Gulfstream to accommodate up to 26 additional aircraft simultaneously.

Gulfstream anticipates Savannah Service Center East will receive LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The facility is recognized for recycling at least 75% of construction waste. Additionally, it features energy-efficient lighting, advanced heating and cooling systems, and optimized energy performance. Moreover, it includes low-emitting building materials, water-saving fixtures, electric vehicle charging stations, and preferred parking for low-emission vehicles.

“Savannah, home to Gulfstream’s worldwide headquarters, is now our largest global service center location — this expansion ensures our dedicated team is equipped with the resources needed to further support our customers who are visiting this great city from around the world,”  added Zimmerman.

Originally announced in 2018, the Savannah Service Center East expansion is a multiphase project. Moreover, This development increases Gulfstream’s total service footprint in Savannah to over 1.1 million square feet (102,000 square meters). Combined, Gulfstream’s Savannah service centers now feature 10 hangars. Consequently, they have the capacity to accommodate more than 85 Gulfstream aircraft simultaneously.
