Gulfstream names Smitha Hariharan VP of sustainability, enhancing environmental goals and supply chain performance.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has appointed Smitha Hariharan as Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, effective immediately. In this newly created role, Hariharan will drive Gulfstream’s sustainable transformation. She will align business strategies with sustainability principles and create long-term value through impactful thought leadership. Prior to this appointment, Hariharan was the Global Head of Sustainability at Halliburton Energy Services. Furthermore, There, she developed the company’s short-term and long-term sustainability strategy. She also oversaw governance, benchmark data, and stakeholder engagements.

Gulfstream’s next-generation aircraft fleet offers fuel-efficiency gains of up to 33% over previous models. Since 2014, the company has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 18% while expanding its facilities by 30%. In November 2023, Gulfstream completed the world’s first trans-Atlantic flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in both engines.

Earlier this year, Gulfstream signed an agreement with the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG). Consequently, Under the agreement, Gulfstream’s suppliers will share their sustainability strategies to assess ESG risks and identify improvement opportunities.
