GetJet Group’s subsidiary Airhub Aviation has secured a long-term site at Vilnius International Airport (VNO) to develop a new aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility, marking a significant milestone in the group’s strategy to expand its technical capabilities and strengthen Lithuania’s aviation ecosystem.
The company won a land lease auction organised by Lithuanian Airports, securing the rights to an 11,200 sq. m. plot for 40 years. Airhub Aviation plans to invest approximately €25 million in constructing a state-of-the-art MRO hangar, which is expected to create more than 100 new jobs once operational.
Darius Viltrakis, CEO of GetJet Group, said the investment represents an important step in the company’s long-term strategy to build a more efficient and integrated aviation business.
“Expanding our MRO capabilities is one of our key strategic priorities, strengthening our technical independence, increasing operational flexibility, and enabling us to provide a broader range of services to our global aviation partners,” he said.
New facilities strengthen MRO network
The newly acquired site is adjacent to another 4,700 sq. m. plot that GetJet Group secured through a separate long-term lease. Between 2025 and 2029, the group is investing an additional €10 million to build another maintenance hangar at that location, further expanding its infrastructure at Vilnius Airport.
According to Inga Duglas, CEO of GetJet Airlines, the investments will enhance the airline’s ability to independently support its fleet while improving operational flexibility and response times for its ACMI and aviation asset management businesses.
She noted that the airline currently mobilises maintenance teams within 1.5 hours of request confirmation and performs more than 500 ad-hoc operations annually, reinforcing its reputation as the “Task Force of Aviation.”
The expansion complements Airhub Aviation’s existing MRO operation at Šiauliai International Airport, where the company has established a growing aircraft maintenance and aviation asset management business.
Viltrakis said the Šiauliai facility has reached full operational capacity within just two years of opening and is already serving leading international aviation companies, demonstrating the region’s growing importance as an MRO hub.

Around 200 new aviation jobs planned
As part of its broader growth strategy, GetJet Group expects to create approximately 200 new aviation jobs across its Vilnius and Šiauliai hangar operations over the coming years.
The recruitment drive will include aircraft maintenance engineers, avionics specialists, technicians, engine maintenance professionals, and experts in planning, logistics, and quality control.
To support workforce development, GetJet Airlines and Airhub Aviation have partnered with 2026 Dakar Rally winner and three-time Lithuanian rally champion Vaidotas Žala as a brand ambassador. The initiative aims to promote technical aviation careers by highlighting the similarities between aviation engineering and motorsport.
Boost for Lithuania’s aviation sector
Lithuanian Airports welcomed the investment, stating that continued private sector expansion at Vilnius Airport reinforces Lithuania’s position as a centre for high-value aviation services.
Acting CEO Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautevičė said projects such as GetJet Group’s new hangar strengthen the country’s MRO ecosystem while enhancing the competitiveness of Lithuania’s aviation industry.
Invest Lithuania also described MRO as one of the country’s fastest-growing high-value sectors, noting that rising global demand for aircraft maintenance services presents further opportunities for Lithuania to expand its role in the international aviation market.
Before signing the lease agreement, the project underwent a national security review by Lithuania’s Commission for Coordination of Protection of Objects of Importance to Ensuring National Security. On 13 March 2025, the commission confirmed that GetJet Group met the country’s national security requirements, allowing the land lease process to proceed.
