GE Aerospace has finalized a significant 10-year services agreement with Hainan Airlines, focusing on comprehensive systems support for Hainan’s Boeing 787 fleet. This agreement extends to cover GE Aerospace’s Avionics Systems content and capabilities, with the primary goal of enhancing support and maintenance for the airline’s Boeing 787 aircraft. Hainan Airlines operates a sizeable fleet of 38 Boeing 787s, making a robust support program crucial to ensure aircraft reliability and operational efficiency. GE Aerospace, known for its innovative solutions in the aviation industry, has designed a tailored package to meet Hainan Airlines’ specific needs and challenges in maintaining a rapidly growing global airline.

The comprehensive support program spans various facets of aviation fleet management, including repairs, stock holding, inventory management, program management, configuration control, engineering change control, technical documentation, obsolescence management, and reliability trend analysis. This suite of services aims to optimize aircraft availability while minimizing operational costs.

“We are clearly feeling the B787 fleet support level is much higher, now that the agreement is in place with GE,” said Mr. Long CHEN, Vice Manager of Spares Procurement Center of Purchasing Department, Hainan Airlines Holding Co., Ltd. “GE arranges all possible resources from Singapore and Australia to support Hainan Airlines’ AOG, and the response time and efficiency are greatly improved. We look forward to close collaboration with GE Aerospace and making the B787 contract an example program that demonstrates the cooperation between Hainan Airlines and GE,” he further added.

GE Aerospace’s Avionics Systems content, including the open architecture core computing and networking system, is a pivotal component of the agreement, ensuring that these systems operate efficiently across the entire Boeing 787 fleet.

One key aspect of this program is GE Aerospace’s commitment to maintaining aircraft availability. Given the demand for parts and components, GE Aerospace will facilitate access to a pool of Boeing 787 components. These components will be available at Hainan Airlines’ headquarters in Haikou and its outstations, effectively streamlining their supply chain and enhancing operational efficiency.

“This agreement is a flexible services program designed to reduce operator costs and maximize aircraft availability,” said Matt Burns, general manager for Avionics, GE Aerospace. “We will provide Hainan with the services solutions that best fit their needs so they can focus on the business of operating and sustaining a rapidly growing global airline,” he further added.

This collaboration with GE Aerospace underscores Hainan Airlines’ commitment to ensure its Boeing 787 aircraft are well-maintained, reliable, and cost-efficient in their operations. This extended support agreement aligns with Hainan Airlines’ vision to provide world-class service and reliability to its customers.

The services agreement with Hainan Airlines is part of GE Aerospace’s broader portfolio of Integrated Logistics Management and Performance-Based Logistics programs. These programs are designed to address the unique needs of each customer, offering benefits such as improved parts availability, a more efficient supply chain, enhanced operational efficiency, and reduced life-cycle costs.
