GA Telesis Engine Services secures EASA approval for engine MRO at U.S. SPAH facility
The successful certification of SPAH by EASA represents a significant achievement for GA Telesis, ATSG, and the aviation industry as a whole.

GA Telesis, LLC has obtained an Air Agency Certificate from the EASA, enabling SPAH to offer dual-release return to service documentation for its customers in the United States and the EU.

GA Telesis, LLC, in collaboration with Air Transport Services Group, Inc. (ATSG), has announced a significant milestone for their joint venture, the Specialized Procedures Aeroengine Hospital (SPAH), located at the Wilmington Air Park in Ohio. The venture has successfully obtained an Air Agency Certificate from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), marking a significant step forward in their efforts to provide rapid jet engine maintenance services to the airline industry.

The certification enables SPAH to offer dual-release return to service documentation for its customers, allowing the use of parts and engines not only in the United States but also in the European Union and countries with bilateral agreements with the FAA and EASA. This capability enhances performance reliability and expands the global reach of their services.

“This certification is a major milestone as we expand our capabilities in Wilmington. We are now able to offer our customers dual release for both EASA and FAA; thus, extending the global reach of our services,” said Russ Shelton, President, GA Telesis Engine Strategy Group. “The ability to better serve our global customers enhances the future of not only GA Telesis Engine Services, but the GA Telesis Ecosystem,” he further added.

The joint venture aims to service up to two hundred engines annually, with a focus on engines produced by General Electric and CFM International during the initial phase of operations. This endeavor aligns with GA Telesis’ mission to ensure “Customer Success” by providing innovative solutions and leveraging its resources across six continents.

“As we continue to expand the global footprint of ATSG, the opportunity to provide our global customers access to additional services increases the value of our Lease+Plus offering,” said Paul Chase, Chief Commercial Officer, ATSG. “This joint venture adds to that value with the addition of EASA certification,” he further added.

GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES), a subsidiary of GA Telesis, offers customers a seamless engine solution, combining high-quality repair and overhaul services with world-class supply chain services. The GATES facility, based in Helsinki, Finland, operates under various aviation authorities’ approvals and has the capacity to overhaul up to 200 engines per year.
