Firan Technology Group (FTG) has officially inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy and reinforcing India’s growing role in the global aerospace manufacturing supply chain.
Located at the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park in Hyderabad, the new facility represents FTG’s fourth manufacturing base worldwide, following its established operations in Canada, the United States and China. The inauguration was attended by senior government officials along with leadership teams from FTG and GMR, underscoring the strategic importance of the investment for India’s aerospace and defence sector.
The facility will manufacture advanced avionics and cockpit interface electronics, supporting global aerospace and defence programmes. Developed as a customised Built-to-Suit (BTS) facility by GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Limited (GHASL), the unit has been designed to meet the stringent infrastructure and operational requirements of global aerospace OEMs. Situated within the 277-acre GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park, the facility benefits from being part of one of India’s largest integrated airport-led aerospace and industrial ecosystems.
Commenting on the launch, Brad Bourne, President & CEO, FTG Corporation, said, “India’s deep engineering talent, rapidly growing aerospace and defence sector, and strong support for manufacturing make it a natural next step in our global expansion. We are proud to support the ‘Make in India’ vision while strengthening India’s aerospace value chain.”
Aman Kapoor, CEO, GMR Airport Land Development, said the investment reflects the increasing confidence that global aerospace manufacturers have in India’s industrial capabilities. “This partnership demonstrates GMR’s ability to deliver customised infrastructure that meets international OEM standards while strengthening domestic and export supply chains, advancing indigenisation and reinforcing Hyderabad’s position as a leading aerospace and industrial hub,” he said.
Globally recognised for its expertise in the design and manufacture of high-reliability printed circuit boards and avionics subsystems, FTG serves the aerospace, defence and space sectors with mission-critical electronic solutions used by leading OEMs across North America and Asia.
The addition of FTG further expands the growing aerospace cluster at the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park, which is already home to major global and domestic players including Safran, Pratt & Whitney, CFM, Cyient DLM, Skyroot Aerospace, Schneider Electric, TechnipFMC, XDLInx, FSTC, Gretel Aviation and GMR Aero Technic. The integrated ecosystem brings together aerospace manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, engineering services, training and innovation under a single industrial hub.
For India’s aviation maintenance ecosystem, the investment represents another positive step in strengthening the domestic aerospace supply chain. As indigenous manufacturing capabilities continue to expand, the availability of locally produced high-value avionics and electronic systems is expected to support greater self-reliance, enhance component availability and contribute to the long-term growth of the country’s MRO and aerospace industries.
