Fokker Services Group (FSG), a renowned global provider of maintenance, modifications, completions, and conversions, has chosen Aviation Glass as its preferred partner for replacing standard inner polycarbonate window lenses with the innovative ‘RealGlass’ technology on the Airbus ACJ330 aircraft. This strategic collaboration positions FSG as a front-runner in the European wide-body completion market and marks a significant milestone in the industry.

During the recent Aircraft Interior Expo (AIX) 2023 in Hamburg, Germany, FSG announced its partnership with Aviation Glass, marking a major step forward in aircraft window technology. The project aims to replace traditional polycarbonate window lenses with ‘RealGlass’ lenses, which offer a range of superior features to meet the demanding requirements of VIP clients. These cutting-edge windows are lighter, brighter, and more scratch-resistant, enhancing the overall ambiance of the cabin. Moreover, the technology complies with V60, heat release, and smoke density requirements, paving the way for obtaining an EASA STC certification for this completion.

Roald Vos, Director of Aircraft Completion & Conversion Services, Fokker Services Group said, “As a cornerstone of crucial innovations that have the potential for wide-scale application, not only within the VIP sector but also within the commercial aviation industry. We take pride in our fruitful, long-term relationship with Aviation Glass, and the combination of our collective knowledge and expertise fills us with excitement as we strive towards achieving a significant breakthrough”.

FSG’s facilities in Woensdrecht, The Netherlands, will be the site for this groundbreaking project. Recently, FSG inaugurated a new wide-body hangar as part of its larger expansion plan, solidifying its position in the completion and conversion services market in the region. This project reinforces FSG’s commitment to providing top-tier services and pioneering innovative solutions.

“It’s never been easier for business aviation customers to make the upgrade to glass and say goodbye to scratched plastic interior window panes. Combining forces with FSG means we can already offer certified glass lenses with existing window shades, saving customers time and money.  Another area of focus will be the co-development of new combined offerings”, said Jaap Wiersema, Managing Director of Aviation Glass.
